The Cocoon Standard pay file contains what your company owes each employee on leave. Here’s a small snippet of what it looks like:

The blue columns show calculations in detail (e.g., number of leave pay hours). The yellow columns show the final output (e.g., total pay owed by the employer) and a pay notes file. Here’s the breakdown of the key columns in yellow:

The Employee Number is your employee’s unique payroll identification number. This ensures that the correct pay amounts are given to the right employee.

The Leave Pay column shows the amount of pay associated with the number of hours that an employee was on leave for. This column contains the amount before any deductions are made for state and/or private disability provider benefits paid to the employee.

The Regular Pay column shows any regular pay an employee earns during a pay period. There are two cases where regular pay will be non-zero. An employee could go on leave or return from leave in the middle of a pay period.

In the image above, the first row shows an example of leave and regular pay when an employee is on leave for the entirety of a pay period. The second row shows pay amounts of an employee who is transitioning from leave to regular work, or vice versa, in the middle of the pay period. The third row shows an employee who is back to regular work for the entire pay period but still has benefits remaining to deduct, which are denoted in the Benefits Deduction column.

The Benefit Deductions column shows any state or private disability provider leave benefits we recover for your company, which will result in a reduction of your company's total pay obligation to the employee for the pay period. Since benefits are a reduction in the pay obligation, this column will have negative values.

With the benefit estimation method, this column shows the anticipated benefit amounts.

The Total Pay Owed by Employer column shows your company's total pay obligation to the employee. This is leave pay plus regular pay, less any deductions received from the state and/or private disability provider.
