FAQs

Why can’t Cocoon support employees who fall outside these specific employee types?

At this time, Cocoon’s software calculates leave, pay and benefits based on a certain assumed work schedules. Employees whose work schedules vary from those assumptions would see incorrect information in Cocoon, such as the number of leave days available to them, their daily leave pay, or short-term disability benefits they are not eligible for under the company’s benefit plans.

What about employees that fit into these buckets that already submitted a leave?

Any employee who has previously submitted a leave, or is actively on leave, and doesn’t fit the employee leave types described will be able to finish out their leave. Employers should be aware of the following limitation: Employees <30 hours a week will see that they should expect to get STD benefits and paid that amount when they’re not eligible for it.

Do I need to include all employees on my census?

Please only include employees who meet the specific employee types identified on your census (i.e., who work a fixed 5 day M-F schedule at least 30 hours per week).

Would Cocoon cover employees who occasionally vary their regularly scheduled workweek?

Yes, as long as the employees work hours meet the stated requirements within the entire payroll period being referenced in your census. For example, an employee might work a fixed, 5 day, M-F schedule of 8 hours a day to working a fixed 5 day, M-F schedule during most of the year but switch to a a fixed 5 day, M-F schedule of 6 hours a day during summer months due to additional childcare responsibilities that arise when children are not attending school. Cocoon can support such an arrangement provided that the number of hours worked per day is consistent throughout the entire payroll reporting periods. If an employee’s daily work hours vary during the pay period in which an employee is taking leave, however, Cocoon cannot support this.

Will Cocoon ever expand support to cover additional employee schedules?

Cocoon is committed to expanding our product support to include employees on additional work schedules. While we don’t have exact timelines yet, we would love to hear what additional support would be most valuable to your company. Direct partner feedback is the main input we use to prioritize our product roadmap.
