Please ensure your census data, whether uploaded manually or through integration, includes only US-based employees, as we currently support only US employees.

Follow these instructions to set up an integration between Rippling and Cocoon, which will allow Cocoon to automatically pull in relevant employee data into our platform.

Note: this integration does not enable Cocoon to push employee leave or pay data back to Rippling.

Initial set-up instructions

  1. Log in to your Rippling admin account

  2. Add the Cocoon app to Rippling by clicking this link and selecting Yes, I'll install this integration.

  3. Review the definition of what the STFP connection entails and click Continue.

  4. Verify that the installation is successful and click Go to integration to continue on to configuring the app.

Configuring your census file

  1. Once you have installed the Cocoon app to Rippling, you can now configure the app! Rippling will provide you with a brief checklist of remaining items. To start, set up your employee census file by navigating to the Employee census tab and clicking Set up.

  2. Share details regarding what information you would like to send to Cocoon. Note that the integration is already configured to pull the required fields needed for the census file, but you can choose to share additional information and/or select groups of employees for inclusion. You can also preview what data fields will be sent to Cocoon by searching an employee name. Once you've made your choices, click Done.

Connecting to Cocoon's SFTP endpoint

  1. To ensure Cocoon receives your census file, you will need to connect to Cocoon's SFTP endpoint. To do so, navigate to the Employee census tab and scroll to the bottom of the page where you will see a section titled Cocoon SFTP details for sending files. Click the Edit button to add your employer slug. You will need to enter your slug as provided by Cocoon EXACTLY in the field. Tip: your slug is the end of the link you share with employees (e.g., cocoon.com/companyname). Once you have added your slug, click Connect.

  2. You can verify that this was successful by checking the SFTP status in the Employee census tab. The status should be Connected. You can now also toggle on the ability to automatically send to Cocoon. When you turn the toggle on, you will be prompted by a pop-up modal to select what cadence you'd like to send information to Cocoon (tip: we recommend a weekly cadence!). Once you have made your selection, click Confirm.

Congratulations! You have now integrated your HRIS provider with Cocoon! No further action is needed on your end. Cocoon will now produce census files from the data pulled from Rippling β€” an automatic sync will occur at your specified cadence to produce a new, accurate census file.

For your first census file sent via this integration, we recommend checking to ensure the individual census file status is Sent to Cocoon. If the status says File generated or Failed, please double check the STFP connection to ensure it's been configured correctly.

If you see any errors, review the instructions and ensure the status indicators in Rippling are accurate (e.g., SFTP status is Connected). If the issue persists, please contact Cocoon at [email protected].
