How to set up a Workday integration with Cocoon

Please ensure your census data, whether uploaded manually or through integration, includes only US-based employees, as we currently support only US employees.

Follow these instructions to set up an integration between Workday and Cocoon, which will allow Cocoon to automatically pull relevant employee data.

Note: this integration does not enable Cocoon to push employee leave or pay data back to Workday.

  1. In your Cocoon Dashboard, navigate to “Settings” > “HR & Payroll”. Under “HR System”, you’ll see a “Set up integration” button.


  2. Click the “Set up integration” button and you’ll be shown a modal that will ask you to read through and accept Cocoon’s Terms of Service.

  3. Once you accept, you’ll be shown the Merge Link modal, which displays the data Cocoon will pull from Workday.

  4. Once you click “Continue”, you’ll be guided through the remaining steps to enable the integration. Follow the step-by-step guide here for the rest of the process, including setting the correct permissions.

    In addition to the HRIS permissions listed in the guide, please also add “GET only” access to:

    1. Workday Data: Compensation by Organization

    2. Workday Data: Compensation Plan Type

    3. Workday Data: Compensation Summary by Job Profile​

Congratulations! You have now integrated your HRIS provider with Cocoon! No further action is needed on your end; Cocoon will now produce census files from the data pulled from your provider - an automatic sync will occur weekly to produce a new, accurate census file.
