Dozens of Oregonians who have applied for benefits through the state’s new paid family and medical leave program have faced delays receiving their checks due to hang ups with the application process and growing pains as a new program.

The Director of Paid Leave Oregon confirmed that a small group of workers were reassigned to focus on those delayed applications. They are hopeful they will be pushed through soon and people will start receiving their benefits shortly.

💡 Cocoon Tips to avoid delays

  • Set up your Frances account as early as possible

  • Ensure you’re filing your claim on time (or earlier if possible!)

    • Oregon allows you to submit your claim 30 days before your leave.

    • Your claims task list in Cocoon will let you know when to start your claim and the deadline in which you have to file.

  • Follow up with Oregon for any status updates on your claim

    • If you don’t hear back within 2-3 weeks you should contact them through the below options:
