State entities establish deadlines for filing claims to receive benefits. If an employee fails to provide all the necessary pre-claim submission steps and information that Cocoon requires to file, the employee risks having the claim and benefits denied.

State Disability: 49 days from the start date
State Bonding: 41 days from the start date

Connecticut

State Disability: 30 days from start date

State Bonding: 30 days from start date

Private Insurance Deadlines

Check your Employer's STD plan to make sure you properly file your claim, but generally private insurance companies do not have such strict deadlines. It's still good practice to submit your claim within 30 days of the start of your disability leave. We also recommend reaching out to the carrier for the most current information.
