We’re making a set of improvements to the leave timeline so it is easier to read, to interpret, and to trust at a glance. The information you see on the timeline will stay the same. We are not removing any important leave details or changing what the timeline contains. Instead, we’re updating how that information is displayed so it is clearer and easier to navigate.
Clearer, more accessible visuals
First, we’re improving color contrast to better meet accessibility standards. This helps the timeline rows and text stand out from the background and each other, making them easier to see.
Easier to understand what you’re looking at
The timeline bars are now larger, and we’ve added annotations so you can immediately see which entitlements you’re eligible for, how much time each one covers, and what pay is included. This way, when you look at the timeline, it should be immediately clear what each segment represents and what sources apply.
More explicit timing details
To reduce ambiguity, each leave segment in the top bar will include clearer timing information by displaying:
specific dates, and
the length of time covered in that segment
That way, you won’t have to guess how long a portion of leave lasts.
More straightforward Time vs. Pay
We’re updating the timeline toggle labels to “Time” and “Pay,” so it’s obvious whether you’re viewing the schedule and timing view or the compensation view.
New timeline scale options (monthly, annual, and more)
You’ll be able to switch the timeline to different time scales, like monthly or annually. This is about how the timeline itself is displayed and how much time each view covers, so you can choose the level of detail that matches what you’re trying to review.
Employer policies are now located above the timeline
Employer policies used to appear below the timeline, which meant you often had to scroll to find them. Now, those policies will be presented in a banner above the timeline, with a “Learn more” call-to-action. This makes policy details more visible right away while keeping the timeline area focused on the timeline itself.
A more responsive page layout
Separately from the timeline scale, the page layout will be more responsive. That means the timeline experience should adapt more smoothly to different screen sizes and window widths, so it remains usable and readable whether you’re on a phone, laptop screen, or a large monitor.
